You said you want to know the Truth. Gnosticism does not have provenance to reliable, verifiable and traceable historicity. That's the problem of why it's irrational, unreliable to place trust in Gnosticism's necessity of evil principle.
As far as New Ager Allen Watt is concerned, it's as simple as him trusting in the non documented provenance of gnostic epistimology. Were he thinks his natural polluted mind that brings out some facts on the NWO makes him rational to epistemologically be reasonable about the provenance of 0 - 325 A.D. Christian history. That the only time period others need to investigate. Some writings after that have some gnostic infiltration as wicked hard headed Gnostics love co-opting the Truth, because they love the non provenance of invented lies. An example of this revisionist history of Gnostics is Zeitgeist today. They have been refuted by real scholars. Remember all hierarchical gnosticism demands oaths of invented ritualistic allegiance to corrupt men; and if they have not oathed to other men, then they have oathed to their own self corrupt lusting and usually cursing epistimology. That's were Gnostic doctrine naturally takes over into irrationality and becomes unreasonable by it's own lack of confidence in the provenance of it's platitudes. The Pharisees shut the door to the Spiritual Kingdom of true epistemological holiness and the reality of Christ intercessory work of answering prayer. As He is now sitting at the right hand of the Father. His atonement covering sacrifice provides cleansing away from sins. The Pharisees and all other Gnostics shut that door of Salvation and eternal life into Christ. You must know the real Jesus by His biblical provenance of transmitted abiding doctrine by His true Apostles. It's historical and traceable back to them and secular historians. Read the first 9 volumes of the Ante-Nicene Fathers that abode in the New Testament abiding doctrine of Christ.
This is what you have to give your life to. When you do the Lord Jesus Christ will see that you are sincere and not hypocritical in yourself, and He will faithfully reveal himself to you, and wash you in his blood and feed you with his Word out of His mouth.
Remember gnostic gnosis (man trusting in his naturalism disguised as spiritual) is in error. Since it is myth making on the fly, by corrupt dishonest people that cannot investigate real Christian historicity and trust in it's reliability and provenance that manifests eternal life.
